Lightbulb Christ the end of the Law

Read Romans 7:1-13; Galatians 3:19-26

I do not suggest that the law is evil. It is not. God's law is holy, just and good (I Tim. 1:8-9). I do not say that the believer is free to break the law. Not only is the believer not free to break the law, he has no desire to do so. To those who believe, God's commandments are not grievous (I John 5:1-3). If we could, we would love God with all our hearts and our neighbours as ourselves. But we do not have the ability to do so. I do say that in Christ the believer is entirely free from the law, because 'Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth'. 'We are not under the law, but under grace.' We have been crucified with Christ and have 'become dead to the law by the body of Christ'. There is no sense whatsoever in which it may be said that the believer is under the law.

We have no covenant with the law. We live under a covenant of grace. We have no commitment to the law. Our commitment is to Christ, who obeyed the law for us. We do nothing by the constraint of the law. 'The love of Christ constraineth us.'

Christ is the end of the law's purpose. The purpose and object of God's law is to bring us to Christ. Once it has served that purpose, it has no other (Gal. 3:24-25). The law is the sheriff's deputy, who shuts men up in prison for their sin, concluding them all under condemnation, so that they may look to the free grace of God in Christ for deliverance. The law is God's black dog, by which he fetches his sheep home.

Christ is the end of the law in the sense that he has fulfilled it as our Representative. He has magnified the law and made it honourable, establishing righteousness to meet the law's demands as our Representative and dying under the law's just penalty as our Substitute.

By his obedience to the law, Christ has terminated the law's claims upon the believer so that in Christ we are entirely free from the law.
"Don Fortner"

This is the concensus of the general population of modern christianity. Sadly it is taking them down a deadly road of "sin on demand" and other false teachings

Romans 10:4 "For Christ is the end of the lawfor rightousness to eeryone that believeth" From the greek translation here that the text is derived from the word for law is "Telos" the work has a three fold meaning, one is "end" another is "Goal" and the last is "Purpose"

I must give credit where credit is due. I learned this from Brad Young in his book "Paul the Jewish Theologian" (A must read)

Now of course we can only speculate, but there was likely a purpose for the misleading translation to make a generation believe that the that G-ds laws are no longer imprtant to man because Christ did away with them.

But if we look a Yeshua and his own words Mat 5 vs 17 Dont think I have come to abolish the law but to fullfill: until heaven and earth pass not one jot
or tittle will pass from the law until all be fulfilled. Most say the total fulfillment was on the cross and to the fact that attonment was finished there the key to this verse is TILL HEAVEN AND EARTH PASS. this did not happen at the cross heaven and earth are still present. therefore the law is still important. No the Law CANNOT save you, but it does convict you! if your saation is not based on the conviction of sin, It is mere "fire insurance" without the law we do not know that we are sinners with out knowing we are sinners, we cannot come to a true conversion experience.

Now I would like to give a more true translation of Romans 10:4 (not my own)
"For the goal at which the Torah aims is the Messiah, Who offers rightousness to everyone who trusts" (David stern Jewish new testament)

"For the goal of the Torah finds consummation in the annointed one, so that everyone who believes may experiene the Rightouse way of living. (Brad Young)
The truth is there is no "end" but that Christ is the Goal, and the Purpose for the Torah. The torah has yeshua all over it the torah was the leading purpose of the annointed one. Through the Torah we press towards the Goal which is Yeshua.

Shalom
Lance

I also want to add that this is only more truth that only through Hebraic background and studying under someone who is true to scripture with no agenda but truth, or learning greek and hebrew ourselves is the only way to propery understand scripture. otherwise we only translate it to our own destruction!

You do good - truly. Now, continue in your studies to discover the meaning and the purpose of God's Law in a Christian's life.

What was/is the purpose of the schoolmaster (law) ? What was/is the Torah to teach us and what are we to do with that knowledge?

We are told that the Tanakh was to lead us to Christ, how is it then so few professing Christians can find the Messiah in those old scriptures? Discover Him.

What are the laws that God said that He would write upon the minds and hearts of men? And, what are we to do with those laws today, if anything - and why?

Without an agenda (holding on to one's integrity) - seek truth (knowledge), understanding (comprehension and relationship) and wisdom (knowing when, where, and how to effectively apply knowledge), i.e., seek the face of God even while living and walking in His Spirit. Do not seek the approval (agreement) of men, but of our Adonai alone. Even so, do not set aside godly counsel and advice either, rather seek the harmony and witness of the Spirit as you rest on the foundation of the word. Keep these things in mind (maintain your balance and moderation) as you study and you shall continue to do well.

Shalom Aleichem

Default Romans 3 30-31

"Since there isonly one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we then nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! rather we uphold the law." TNIV

Many people particurly those who wish to uphold the rather current misleading that the law has been nulified, or what ever it is that they wish to achive in the misleading of scripture, they either do not do enough study, or they "toss it out" Here we see that the law is not in no way of none effect rather upheld. how is it that we uphold it if we don't teach it, learn it, accept it, then apply it. It is truly sad what has happened to the church, and where it has been.

It also leads to what some appear to be "contradiction" but it is like that only beause, 1 they stop and do not research further, or 2 they skip over it and ignore it, 3 (which I hear alot) "I don't have time to study or read, so I listen to what the pastor says and take it as truth because after all he knows" SCARY!!!!!!!!

Just a note that the first few episodes of Dr. Allon's teaching series on the Book of Romans have been uploaded to the RFWW website (click on "Messages" to go to the video page). The series intro begins with Romans 7:1, which explains the audience that Paul was writing the epistle to. Dr. Allon then proceeds to take you through Romans, one verse at a time, word by word to shed light on how those who originally read the epistle to the Romans would have understood it.

The series will be ongoing, covering a few verses an episode, so keep checking back at the website for updates.

Shalom!

Not only are we going through the Book of Romans; we are also going through the 613 Laws, one at a time, the first two episodes of the teaching on Romans and the teaching on the laws are already uploaded. We will update the site as often as possible, but without people to help me edit, it will be a very slow process.

Update to this thread: The first two mesages in the series on Romans and the first three series on decoding the 613 Mitvot (i.e. taking them back to their proper Hebraic context) have been uploaded at the RFWW page.

Click here, then click Messages at the bottom to go to the messages page. You can also click "Click Here For More Vidoes" to access the message archive and view the past two years worth of messages.

Please prayerfully consider supporting Allon Ministries with a donation of time, talent, ability or finances. I'm sure Robert would be blessed by any courtesy we can extend and in turn, pass those blessings on to the body of Yeshua.

Shalom!
